Annette Toole è nata l’1 aprile del 1953 a Houston,Texas.Ha cambiato il suo cognome in O’Toole quando divenne attrice per una sua scelta personale.Nel 1966 la sua famiglia si trasferì a Los Angeles e all’età di 13 anni capì che voleva diventare un’attrice.Iniziò a comparire in televisione in serie tv come “My three sons” e “The Virginian”.Nel 1983 interpretò il ruolo di Lana Lang nel film “Superman III”.Dopo film come “Copacabana”,”Cross my heart” e “The outer limits”,è arrivato nel 2001 la scritturazione per il telefilm “Smallville”.Ha vissuto per molti anni nell’Oregon con il suo primo marito.Attualmente vive a Los Angeles con le sue figlie e suo marito.

Martha Kent è la madre adottiva di Clark.E’ una persona molto buona ed accondiscendente nei confronti del figlio.Accudisce la casa e cerca di aiutare il marito nei lavori della fattoria.
