John Richard Schneider è nato l’8 aprile 1960 a Mount Kisco,New York.Ha iniziato a recitare dall’età di otto anni ed ha fatto delle comparse in show come "Fiddler on the Roof", "Annie Get Your Gun", "The Curious Savage", "The Pajama Game", "The Odd Couple", e "Harvey".Ha inciso anche degli album.In questo periodo frequentava la North Springs High School in Atlanta,Georgia.I primi successi sono arrivati con la serie tv “The Dukes of Hazzard” in cui interpretava il ruolo di Bo Duke.In seguito tante comparse in film come “Touched by an angel” e “Diagnosis murder”.Fino al film “The Dukes of Hazzard:Hazzard in Hollywood!“.Poi è arrivata la serie tv Smallville nel 2001.Ama le auto da corsa e nel 1999 è diventato anche produttore di serie tv per la famiglia.
